In today’s fast-moving real estate market, staying compliant with California Department of Real Estate (DRE) regulations is just as important as building your brand. Recently, the DRE has increased enforcement on agent marketing and branding, which means now is the perfect time to review and update your materials to ensure full compliance.
A few small adjustments—like updating your broker name, license number, and branding—can help you avoid potential fines and keep your business running smoothly. Whether it’s your social media, website, or printed materials, ensuring your marketing aligns with DRE guidelines is key to maintaining trust with clients and protecting your license.
This guide breaks down everything you need to know, from social media disclosures to website requirements and team branding rules around DRE Agent Branding Rules.
Taking a few minutes now to check your compliance will save you time and hassle in the long run.
Here’s what you need to know…
Broker Name Requirements for Advertising & Social Media
Table of Contents
Your brokerage name must be displayed correctly across all marketing materials and social media. Since we are now under the LPT Realty umbrella, the DRE does not allow “Big Block” to be used on its own, so be sure to update your branding to reflect an approved variation.
Approved options include:
✔ Big Block LPT Realty
✔ Big Block, Powered by LPT Realty
✔ Big Block, DBA of LPT Realty
✔ Big Block @ LPT Realty
✔ Or any similar variation
✔ Or simply: LPT Realty
For compliance purposes, the name “Big Block” cannot be used on its own in any branding, marketing, or social media profiles.
License Number Requirement
Displaying your DRE License Number is a mandatory compliance requirement for all agents. This rule is in place to ensure transparency for consumers and allow them to verify an agent’s credentials. Your license number should be included anywhere you promote your real estate services.
Your DRE License Number must be displayed on all branding, including:
- Websites
- Social media profiles & posts
- Business cards & flyers
- Email signatures
- Open house & for-sale signs
Branding Updates
Outdated branding can lead to compliance issues, so now is a great time to refresh your materials. Make sure you’re using the latest Big Block LPT Realty logos, registered DBAs, and correct office addresses.
- Use the correct logos – Ensure you’re using the most current Big Block LPT Realty logos (found here).
- Check your DBA & Branch Offices – Confirm that you’re using only registered names and locations.
- Update your office address – Double-check that you have the current, correct office address on all materials.
Social Media Compliance
The DRE requires that your license number and brokerage name be easily accessible to consumers on social media. To stay compliant on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn and others:
- Add your Broker Name & License Number to the bio/intro section of your profiles.
- Every real estate-related post should include these disclosures.
Website Compliance
Your personal real estate website must include:
✔ The Broker logo on your landing page
✔ Your name & DRE license number
Team Branding Rules
If you are branding yourself as a Team, you must have at least one active LPT agent in your group. If you do not, you must adjust your branding accordingly.
